Ukraine’s Higher Social Cohesion
during the War and Its Potential Weak Spots
Since the Russian invasion, combatting the “common threat” has shaped the idea of the “common good”, strengthening social cohesion. But this cohesion can be weakened by new cleavages emerging from a militarized social reality. This study aims to identify the risk zones where social cohesion may be undermined, both during wartime and in post-war Ukraine.
Oleksandra Deineko is Associate Professor at Karazin Kharkiv National University (Ukraine) and guest researcher at the Oslo Metropolitan University (Norway).
